Snowmass Village sits at 8,200 feet in the Roaring Fork Valley of the Colorado Rockies, and for close to four decades its slopes have hosted the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic each spring. Co-presented by VA and DAV, the clinic brings roughly 400 Veterans with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, amputations, visual impairments, and other significant disabilities together with world-class adaptive instructors and more than 700 volunteers. Several participants have gone on to compete as Paralympic athletes. Year-round, Veterans in Snowmass Village and across Pitkin County are served by the county Veterans Service Office in neighboring Aspen, with the nearest VA care at the Glenwood Springs VA Clinic down-valley.
