The Short Version
Veterans OneSource™ is a free service operated by Di Nola Consulting. You can read every page on this site without telling us a thing. We ask for your email address in exactly one place, the subscription form, and we use it for one purpose, sending you event updates. If you submit an event or a resource, we ask for your contact details so we can verify the listing and reply to you.
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to Partners or Sponsors. We run no advertising network, no tracking pixels, and no third-party analytics. We set no cookies.
What We Collect, and Why
Your email address, if you subscribe
When you fill out a subscription form, we collect your email address and the name of the hub you signed up from, which tells us which city's updates to send you. That is all. We do not ask for your name, your service history, your rank, your discharge status, or your VA information, and you should not send it to us.
We use your email address to send event updates and nothing else. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
What you tell us when you submit an event or a resource
Our submission form collects two different kinds of information, and the difference matters.
- Details meant for publication. The event name, dates, times, description, venue, address, cost, registration link, flyer image, and any public point of contact you choose to list. You are giving us this so it can appear on the site, and if we accept the listing, it will.
- Your own contact details. Your name, organization, email address, and phone number if you provide one. These are not published. We use them to verify the listing, ask follow-up questions, and tell you whether we accepted it. Every submitter hears back from us either way.
Please do not put personal information about a third person into the form. If you list a point of contact, list someone who has agreed to be contacted publicly.
How many people visited, measured by us
We count visits so we know which hubs are serving people and which ones need work. We built that counter ourselves rather than installing someone else's, and it is deliberately thin. For each page view it records:
- The page path, for example
/ElPasoTX. - A random identifier your browser generates and stores locally, so repeat visits are not counted as new people. It is a string of random characters. It is not derived from anything about you, it is not shared with anyone, and it cannot be traced back to a person.
- Whether this is a new browser and whether this is a new session.
- The hostname of the site that linked you here, if any, for example
google.com. Never the full address of the page you came from. - An approximate location, at the country, state, and city level, worked out from your network connection at the moment of the request. We never store the IP address it came from.
We do not record who you are, what you clicked, how far you scrolled, or anything you typed. We do not build a profile, and there is no profile to sell.
What you send us directly
If you email us, we have your email and whatever you wrote in it. We keep that correspondence so we can follow through on it.
What our host records on its own
Like every website, this one runs on servers that keep standard access logs, which include IP addresses, browser type, and the time of each request. Those logs belong to our hosting provider, Netlify, and exist for security and reliability. We do not use them for analytics, and we do not combine them with anything else described on this page.
What we never do
- Sell, rent, or trade your information. Not to anyone, not for any price.
- Share your email address with Partners, Sponsors, or the organizations whose events we list.
- Run advertising, ad networks, retargeting, or tracking pixels.
- Install third-party analytics such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel.
- Set cookies, for tracking or for anything else.
- Ask for, or want, your Social Security number, VA file number, DD-214, medical information, or financial details.
Cookies and What Your Browser Stores
This site sets no cookies. Three things are stored by your browser on your own device, and none of them is sent anywhere except as described above:
- The random visitor identifier, in local storage. Clearing your browser's site data for veteransonesource.app erases it, and the next visit generates a fresh one.
- A session marker, in session storage, which your browser discards when you close the tab.
- A cache of pages you have visited, if you install Veterans OneSource™ as an app or your browser registers our offline worker. That cache lets previously viewed hubs open without a connection. It stays on your device.
Because we do not track you across sites, there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to turn off. We honor those signals by never having collected the data in the first place.
Who Else Touches Your Information
We use a small number of service providers to run this site. Each one sees only what it needs to do its job, and none of them is permitted to use your information for their own purposes. None of them is an advertiser or a data broker, and every font, stylesheet, and script on this site is served from our own servers, so the page itself contacts no one else.
That now includes the event flyers. Until October 4, 2026 about a hundred listings showed a flyer that still lived on the organizer’s own website, so opening one of those listings sent your browser to their server. Those images are on ours now, and loading any page on this site contacts nobody but us.
There is one thing left, and it only happens if you ask for it. An event listing with a street address can show a map, and that map comes from OpenStreetMap. It does not load on its own: you get a Show map button, and nothing is requested until you press it. If you do, OpenStreetMap receives that request and can see your network address and which location you were looking at. If you would rather they did not, do not press the button — the street address is written out in the listing either way.
| Provider | What it handles | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts the site, receives form submissions, and runs the visit counter and its stored totals. | netlify.com/privacy |
| Resend | Holds the subscriber list and delivers our emails, including the unsubscribe link in each one. | resend.com/legal/privacy-policy |
| GitHub | Stores the site's content in a private repository, including accepted listings and the submitter details attached to them. | github.com privacy statement |
| OpenStreetMap | Converts a submitted venue address into map coordinates so we can confirm the event is near the hub it was sent to. Only the address is sent, never your contact details. | osmfoundation.org privacy policy |
The only other circumstance in which we would disclose your information is a valid legal demand, such as a court order or lawful subpoena, or a genuine need to protect someone's safety. We have never received such a demand. If that changes and the law allows us to tell you, we will.
How Long We Keep It
- Subscriber email addresses stay on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. An unsubscribe marks you as unsubscribed so we do not accidentally add you back. If you want the record gone entirely, ask and we will remove it.
- Individual page-view records are deleted automatically the next day. Before they go, they are folded into a daily total, which keeps counts by page, referring site, and location, plus the list of random identifiers seen that day so the unique-visitor count stays accurate. Those daily totals do not record which pages any identifier visited, and we keep them for as long as the site operates.
- Event submissions stay in our private project records, including the submitter details, so we can keep a listing's history straight and recognize repeat submitters. Published listing details stay up while the event is relevant.
- Email correspondence is kept as long as it is useful, and then deleted.
Your Choices and Your Rights
You do not have to live with any of the above.
You can, at any time
- Unsubscribe. Use the link at the bottom of any email from us, or write to us and we will do it for you.
- Ask what we hold about you. Email us and we will tell you, and send you a copy.
- Ask us to correct it if something is wrong.
- Ask us to delete it. We will, except where we are legally required to keep a record.
- Reset the visitor identifier yourself by clearing this site's data in your browser, without asking us at all.
We will not charge you, make you create an account, or treat you any differently for asking. We answer these requests within thirty days. Because we hold so little, most of them take a few minutes.
Depending on where you live, state law may give you these rights formally, including the right to appeal if we turn a request down. We extend them to everyone who asks, regardless of where they live, because drawing that line by zip code would be a strange way to treat this community.
Visitors Outside the United States
Veterans OneSource™ serves military communities stationed overseas, and we maintain hubs in Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. If you are reading this from outside the United States, note that our service providers store information on servers in the United States, and that United States privacy law differs from the law where you are.
Where the General Data Protection Regulation or the United Kingdom GDPR applies to you, our basis for processing is your consent for the subscriber list, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing, and our legitimate interest in running and improving a free resource for the military community in the case of the visit counter. You have the rights listed in the section above, and you may lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
Children
This site is built for adults: Service Members, Veterans, Military Spouses, Military Families, caregivers, and survivors. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Submissions and subscriber records live in access-controlled systems held by the providers listed above, and the project repository is private. The surest protection, though, is the one built into the design: we collect very little, so there is very little to lose. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Changes to This Policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, such as collecting something new or working with a new provider, we will say so in a newsletter rather than hoping you notice.

Questions about this policy, or a request about your own information, go to the same place. A person reads it.
