What You Are Installing
V1S installs straight from your browser. There is no App Store listing to search for, no account to create, no download to wait on, and no cost. Your phone puts the V1S eagle on your home screen, and tapping it opens Veterans OneSource™ full screen, the same as any other app.
It takes about fifteen seconds, and it uses a fraction of the space a store app would.
Step by Step
iPhone & iPad
Your deviceUse Safari. Other browsers on an iPhone can do this too, but Safari is the path that works on every iPhone in service.
- Open Safari and go to veteransonesource.app
- Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up — at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone, or at the top right on an iPad.
- Scroll down the list of options and tap Add to Home Screen
- The name comes up as V1S. Change it if you would rather call it something else.
- Tap Add at the top right. The icon is now on your home screen.
Android Phone & Tablet
Your deviceWritten for Chrome. Samsung Internet, Edge, and Firefox all offer the same option under their own menus.
- Open Chrome and go to veteransonesource.app
- Tap the menu button — the three dots at the top right.
- Tap Install app, or Add to Home screen if that is what your version calls it.
- Confirm with Install. The icon is now on your home screen.
Installed. Look for the V1S eagle on your home screen.
Windows & Mac Computers
Your deviceChrome and Edge can install V1S as a desktop app with its own window and taskbar icon.
- Open Chrome or Edge and go to veteransonesource.app
- Look for the install icon at the right end of the address bar — a small screen with a downward arrow. If it is not there, open the browser menu and look for Install or Apps.
- Choose Install. V1S opens in its own window from then on.
Installed. V1S will open in its own window.

If Something Does Not Look Right
There is no “Add to Home Screen” in the menu
You are most likely in a browser that opened inside another app — a link tapped from Facebook, Messages, or an email. Look for Open in Safari (or Open in Chrome) in the corner of that window, then start again from step one.
I am on an iPhone and using Chrome
Recent versions of iPhone software let Chrome, Edge, and Firefox add apps to the home screen as well, but the option moves around between versions. Safari is the shortest path, and the installed app behaves the same either way.
The icon opens a browser instead of the app
That usually means a plain bookmark got saved rather than the app. Delete the icon, open veteransonesource.app fresh in Safari or Chrome, and run through the steps above from the site itself rather than from a saved link.
I want to remove it
Touch and hold the V1S icon on your home screen and choose the option to delete or remove it, the same as any other app. Nothing else on your phone is affected, and you can add it back any time from this page.
I would rather not install anything
You do not have to. Everything works in an ordinary browser at veteransonesource.app. You can also subscribe to the newsletter and let the events come to you.
