With triple-digit summer temperatures, the City of El Paso has activated free, air-conditioned cooling centers citywide — 4 recreation centers (Valle Bajo, Marty Robbins, Galatzan, Nations Tobin) and 12 public libraries. Need a fan? Dial 2-1-1 to check eligibility — the Extreme Weather Task Force is also accepting fan donations at all El Paso and Horizon fire stations. For after-hours help or overnight shelter referrals call 3-1-1; for heat emergencies (heat stroke, unconsciousness) call 9-1-1. Check on elderly neighbors and fellow Veterans, stay hydrated, and never leave children, seniors, or pets in a parked vehicle.
