Submit Your EventWest Point is the seat of Cuming County in northeast Nebraska, an Elkhorn River town of about 3,400 people roughly 60 miles northwest of Omaha. It is home to American Veterans Park, built by a local committee to honor service members of every branch and every era, with three granite spires, memorial tiles, and a cross set into the concrete large enough to read from the air. Veterans and families across the county are served by the Cuming County Veterans Service Office in the courthouse at 200 S. Lincoln Street, with VA care through the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System. Each September the community retires thousands of worn American flags in a public ceremony held alongside the West Point Car Show.
