West Plains is the seat of Howell County and the commercial center of the south-central Missouri Ozarks, close enough to the Arkansas line that its catchment crosses it. Veterans here are served by local VA clinic and outreach programming and by county Veteran services, across a rural area where travel distance shapes access to care.
