Walla Walla is home to the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center at 77 Wainwright Drive, named for the general who commanded American forces in the Philippines and survived more than three years as a prisoner of war. It covers primary and specialty care, mental health, dental, audiology, and pharmacy for Veterans across south-eastern Washington, north-eastern Oregon, and western Idaho — which makes this small city a regional center for Veteran care. Separately, the Walla Walla Vet Center at 1104 West Poplar Street provides confidential readjustment counseling, PTSD support, and care for military sexual trauma, with a 24/7 crisis line on 1-877-927-8387.
