Annual reminder: The VA Annual Clothing Allowance is a yearly payment for veterans whose service-connected disability requires either a prosthetic or orthopedic device (such as a wheelchair or brace) that causes wear and tear to outer garments, or skin medication that causes irreparable staining to outer garments. To receive a payment this year, you must submit VA Form 10-8678 to the Prosthetic & Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) at your local VA Medical Center on or before August 1, 2026. Applications are reviewed after August 1, and payments are typically distributed between September 1 and October 31. If you use more than one qualifying device or medication, your base amount can be multiplied — for example, two allowances equal $2,106.38. You must already have a service-connected disability rating; if you haven't filed a disability claim yet, do that first. Download Form 10-8678 and review eligibility at VA.gov (va.gov/disability/eligibility/special-claims/clothing-allowance).
