Springfield anchors the Missouri Ozarks and one of the largest Veteran communities in southwest Missouri — roughly 17,000 Veterans across Greene County and the surrounding area. The city is served by the Gene Taylor Veterans’ Outpatient Clinic on West Republic Road, the Springfield Vet Center on East Battlefield Road for readjustment and PTSD counseling, and the Greene County Veterans Service Office, alongside active VFW and American Legion posts across the Ozarks.
