Quemado is a village in western Catron County, near Quemado Lake and the Apache National Forest, close to the Arizona line. Catron County is larger than several states and has almost nobody in it, so services come to the people rather than the other way around. The New Mexico Department of Veterans' Services brings its Mobile Outreach Vehicle to the Catron County Senior Center, where a Veteran Service Officer helps veterans and family members with state and federal benefit claims.
