Submit Your EventNew Windsor is an Orange County town on the west bank of the Hudson River — site of the New Windsor Cantonment, the Continental Army's last winter encampment, where the Badge of Military Merit (forerunner of the Purple Heart) was created in 1782. Today the town is home to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor and minutes from Stewart Air National Guard Base (105th Airlift Wing), with Veterans served by the Orange County Veterans Service Agency, the New York State Department of Veterans' Services, and the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System.
