Mason City is the regional center for north-central Iowa, and the county seat of Cerro Gordo County. The Mason City VA Clinic at 520 S. Pierce Street is a community-based outpatient clinic under VA Central Iowa Health Care System, and it carries far more than primary care — audiology, optometry, dermatology, cardiology, chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy, and telehealth under one roof. That breadth matters here: the nearest VA medical centers are a long drive in any direction, so what the clinic handles locally is a day not spent on the road. Cerro Gordo County Veteran Affairs and the local posts cover claims and community support.
