Long Island is home to one of the largest Veteran populations in the nation, spanning Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The region is served by the VA New York Harbor Health Care System (Northport VA Medical Center), the Nassau County Department of Veterans Affairs, the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency, and dozens of active VFW, American Legion, and DAV posts.
