Kingston sits where the Rondout Creek meets the Hudson River, and it was New York's first capital — the Senate House still stands in the Stockade District. Today it is the seat of Ulster County and the anchor of the mid-Hudson Valley's Veteran community. Service Members, Veterans, and Military Spouses here are served by the Ulster County Veterans Service Agency, the Kingston VA Clinic under the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System, and Vet2Vet of Ulster County — a peer program of the Hudson Valley National Center for Veteran Reintegration in nearby Saugerties, which runs free career, financial literacy, social reintegration, and integrative mental health programs for anyone who served.
