Naval Air Station Key West — Boca Chica Field, Trumbo Point, and the Sigsbee Park annex — trains fighter aircrews year round in the airspace over the Straits of Florida, and the Coast Guard's Sector Key West works the same waters. Around them is a Veteran community that stretches the length of the Florida Keys, served by the Key West VA Clinic, the Monroe County Veterans Affairs office, and active American Legion and VFW posts on the island.
