Greensboro is the largest city in North Carolina's Piedmont Triad and the center of a Veteran community that spans Guilford County and the counties around it. Veterans here are served by the Greensboro Vet Center, by Guilford County Veterans Services, and by a dense network of American Legion, VFW, and Disabled American Veterans posts — DAV Chapter 20 has run the city's annual Veterans Parade through downtown for decades. The Kernersville VA Health Care Center is a short drive east, and students using the GI Bill fill classrooms at UNC Greensboro, North Carolina A&T State University, and Guilford Technical Community College.
