Gainesville is the hub of Veteran health care in North Florida. The Malcom Randall VA Medical Center on Archer Road is a tertiary care and teaching hospital and one of the five busiest VA medical centers in the country, anchoring the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health Care System — the VA’s largest health care system, covering 50 counties and serving more than 130,000 Veterans. The city is also home to the University of Florida and active VFW and American Legion posts across Alachua County.
