Edison sits at the center of Middlesex County, and its ties to those who served run deep. The New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park has cared for the state's Veterans here for decades, the Middlesex County Office of Veterans Services and the Piscataway VA Clinic serve the surrounding towns, and American Legion and VFW posts across Edison, Metuchen, Woodbridge, and Piscataway keep the community connected. Oak Tree Pond Historic Park marks the ground where the Battle of Short Hills was fought in June 1777, a reminder that Edison's service story starts at the founding.
