The city's Veteran community is served by the Columbia County Veterans Service Office, providing benefits counseling and claims assistance, and by the Tomah VA Medical Center (approximately 80 miles west), which provides regional inpatient and specialty care. Active American Legion and VFW posts serve Veterans throughout Columbia County, and Fort McCoy — Wisconsin's only active military installation — lies within the region.
