The Tyler Centennial VA Clinic at 428 Centennial Parkway opened at the end of 2021 under VA North Texas Health Care System, replacing a 10,000 square foot clinic with a 55,000 square foot one and serving more than 18,000 Veterans a year — primary care alongside mental health, vision, women’s health, radiology and MRI, and a pharmacy. Tyler’s Veteran history runs back further, to Camp Fannin, the Second World War infantry replacement training centre north-east of the city, which trained tens of thousands of soldiers and later held German prisoners of war.
