Submit Your EventFort Irwin is the Army's National Training Center, set in the Mojave Desert roughly forty miles northeast of Barstow, where brigade combat teams rotate through the training area known as the Box. Its remoteness makes the on-post community largely self-contained. Events listed here take place on post — Child & Youth Services, the community center, unit and MWR facilities — so base access rules apply, and most need a DoD ID, a sponsor, or a visitor pass arranged in advance. Events down in the Barstow area are listed under the Barstow hub.
